Conclusions
-
1.
We have prepared organosilicon peroxyesters by reaction of t-butyl trimethylsilyl peroxide with succinic or phthalic anhydride in the presence of a catalytic quantity of pyridine.
-
2.
The reaction of phthalic anhydride with bis (trimethylsilyl) peroxide in the absence of pyridine involves the intermediacy of an acyl organosilicon peroxide, which rearranges to trimethylsilyl dimethyl (methoxy) silyl phthalate.
-
3.
Homolysis of the O-O bond takes place when OO-t-butyl O-trimethylsilyl monoperoxyphthalate is heated, giving a mixture of products resulting from free radical reactions, t-Butyl trimethylsilyl peroxide and phthalic anhydride are formed simultaneously.
