Conclusions
-
1.
Derivatives of 1-germa-3,5-cyclopentadiene have been synthesized, and their properties studied.
-
2.
Under electron impact, the 1-germa-3,5-cyclopentadiene compounds undergo carbenoid decomposition with the formation of GeRR' and C6H8 fragments, the charge distribution between these fragments being such as to indicate that the ionization potentials of the germylenes fall off in the order GeCl2 > Ge(Cl)C6H4CH3-4 > Ge(CH3)2 and Ge(C6H5)2.
