Abstract

In the operation of a universal joint bearing at low velocities of the reciprocating motion of rolling bodies (needle rollers) the near has the form of contact gripping of the metal of the bodies in contact. This is accompanied by continuous plastic deformation of the surface layers of races. Therefore, it is important to create a structural state in the working layers of a race that provides resistance to plastic deformation, namely, martensite of high hardness 62–65HRC e. Special features of the chemicothermal treatment (CTT) of races of universal joint bearings of 15G I steel produced by the cold squeezing method are described.
