Abstract
The design of mixers for the mixing of low- and high-viscosity fluids is addressed. The homogeneity of the mixer, as defined by the coefficient of deviation, and the pressure gradient are discussed. Different types of mixers developed by the Sulzer Company are described, and the ranges of their application defined. The relationship between the homogeneity of the mixture and the relative length of the mixer, as well as the relationship for calculating the pressure gradient are presented for each type of mixer.
