Conclusions
-
1.
Behavioral responses arising during stimulation of different zones of the claustrum are characterized by dominance of different physiological reactions; consequently, the claustrum is structurally heterogenous and its individual parts perform different functions.
-
2.
The claustrum affects the course of conditioned and unconditioned food reflexes. The character of the influences depends on the location of the stimulation, i.e., on functional properties of regions of the nucleus studied and, in a given case, on their relationship to food activity.
