Polarizability and conformations of isomeric 2-caranones

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The isomeric 2-caranones exist in the chair conformation with equatorial Me groups.

  2. 2.

    Conjugation between the cyclopropane ring and the CO group of 2-caranones is manifested in the IR spectra, molecular refraction, anisotropy, and the Kerr constants.
