Conclusions
-
1.
A new free radical 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-l,2,3,4-tetrahydro-y-carboline-3-oxyl was produced by selective oxidation of 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-l,2,3,4-tetrahydro-γ-carboline.

2.
The new free radical can be selectively reduced to the corresponding diamagnetic 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-l, 2,3,4-tetrahydro-3-hydroxy-γ-carboline and 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-l,2,3,4-tetrahydro-γ-carboline.
