On the measurability of the quantum phase distribution

Abstract

We give a prescription for the measurement of the quantum phase distribution of a single-mode radiation field. The phase probability distribution is defined as the squared modulus of the photon wave function in the phase representation. The measurement involves all moments of the signal from the balanced homodyne detection.
