Electronic spectroscopy for aromatic-hydrocarbon complexes adsorbed on silicon dioxide

  • Published:
Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

The range of adsorption states determines the electronic spectra for organic fluorophors dispersed in molecular form on porous or nonporous silicon dioxide, including effects from electron and proton transfer, molecular association, and energy transfer. The photonic effects are dependent on the type of molecule, the carrier activation conditions, the uptake, the excitation conditions, and any coadsorbates. These fluorophors can be used to probe surfaces.
