By the action of halogen derivatives of hydrocarbons and of hydrogen chloride on dimethylamine-(alkylthio) boranes bis(dimethylamine)boronium salts are formed.

When treated with alkyl halides, complexes formed by (alkylthio)boranes with tertiary amines exchange their alkylthio group for halogen with formation of haloborane complexes.

3.
Hydrogen chloride splits trialkylamine complexes of (alkylthio)boranes, and (alkylthio)borane trimers and amine hydrochlorides are formed.

4.
Dimethylamine-(methylthio)borane reacts with dimethylamine hydrochloride with formation of bis(dimethylamine) boronium chloride.
