Infrared spectra of quinoline analogs of chalcones

  • Published:
Journal of Applied Spectroscopy Aims and scope

Abstract

We measured the IR spectra and in some cases the electronic spectra of 29 quinoline analogs of chalcones, 1-(naphthy1-2)-3-phenylpropenone-1, 2-acetylquinoline, and quinaldine aldehyde. It was found that quinoline-2 plays the role of an electron acceptor in the systems studied. Some remarks are made concerning the dependence of the absorption curves of the compounds on their structure.
