Abstract
A single-transducer fast-neutron spectrometer was used to measure the spectra of fast pile neutrons after passing through polyethylene layers of different thicknesses. The results of measurements at En>3 MeV show excellent agreement with data computed by the method of moments. At En<3 MeV, the discrepancies are accounted for by the difference in the geometry and in the original spectra. Problems involving the correct procedures to be folIowed in setting up experiments of this type are discussed.
