Abstract
The presence of a sodium-stimulated, saturable uptake process for L-cystine is described in brushborder membrane vesicles isolated from rat jejunal mucosa. Concentration-dependence studies indicate the presence of a single transport system for cystine withK m=0.053 mM andV max=0.633 nmol/mg/15 s. Lysine completely inhibits the uptake of cystine.
