Summary
A specific technique is described here that depicts colour pictures on the basis of spoken words on a video display unit (VDU). Each sound frequency is attributed a certain colour shade, and each sound spectrum a colour spectrum. Time follows the X-axis across the VDU. The picture's envelope corresponds to the amplitude's course. This technique makes it possible partially to substitute the deafs lacking acoustic feedback by an optical feedback. After a short training period under visual control, articulation is spontaneously improved.
