Abstract
Starting from the complete system of hydrodynamic equations for the field of a point sound source in a plane-stratified ocean perturbed by a flow, a representation is obtained in the form of a sum of normal waves. Comparison with similar results for the quasipotential equations makes it possible to estimate the effect of replacing the generalized equation of state by an approximate state equation.
