Abstract

We obtain a closed-form solution of the axisymmetric problem of the echo-signal from a thin spherical shell containing an elastic ring. We analyze the influence of the reinforcing rib on the frequency dependence of the scattering amplitude in the axial direction and also on the directional characteristics in regimes of potential and resonance scattering.
