Abstract
In previous studies, Rhodes & Wooltorton (1971) the effect of ethylene treatment in stimulating the activity of the enzyme phenylalanine ammonia lyase in storage roots of Swedish Turnip (Brassica napo-brassica) was demonstrated. In the present paper the evidence for suggesting that ethylene stimulates lignin biosynthesis in this tissue is discussed.
