Synthesis of β-silicon-containing vinyl sulfides

Summary

  1. 1.

    A study was made of the vinylation of organosilicon mercaptans, containing a silicon atom in theβ-position. A method was developed for the preparation ofβ-silicon-containing vinyl sulfides.

  2. 2.

    The reaction ofβ-silicon-containing mercaptans with acetaldehyde in the presence of HCl gave the corresponding organosiliconα-chloroethyl sulfides, which are easily dehydrochlorinated with the formation ofβ-siliconcontaining vinyl sulfides.
