On approximating the Indirect Malmquist Productivity Indices by Fisher indices

Abstract

In this paper it is shown that under certain assumptions the Cost Indirect Malmquist Productivity Index, which is a natural productivity measure for a cost constrained firm, can be approximated as the ratio of the Fisher output quantity index and the cost index.
