Sample differences in genetics and intelligence data: Sibling and parent-offspring studies

Abstract

Possible causes of the heterogeneity of parent-offspring and sibling IQ correlations based on a review of the world literature were investigated. A meta-analysis of the parent-offspring data indicated that sample differences in the size of the IQ correlations were due to sampling error, test unreliability, and differences in the distribution of IQs. A similar analysis of the sibling data failed to reveal the cause of the variability in sibling IQ correlations.
