Abstract

The data of systematic calculations of the development of instability in a wake under the influence of given external disturbances are presented. The evolution (linear and nonlinear) of a disturbance of given frequencyf of each mode and, moreover, the intermodal interaction are studied. Considerable attention is given to the investigation of the instability of the wake under the influence of a pair of disturbances: fundamental and subharmonic. In the calculations the amplitudes and phases of the disturbances were varied over a broad range.
