Abstract
A low input energy high gain inertial confinement fusion concept, depending only on deuterium as source material, is proposed. The concept makes use of a DT triggered thermonuclear deflagration in deuterium, whereby the tritium needed to make the trigger is obtained by separating the tritium burn product from the debris of the DD thermonuclear microexplosion. The separation of tritium from the remaining deuterium can conceivably be done with high efficiency by laser isotope separation.
