Superphosphates from Brazilian phosphate concentrates

Distribution of P 2 O 5 in the products

Abstract

Superphosphates were produced on a laboratory scale with two Brazilian phosphate concentrates from ARAXA and CATALAO. The evolution of reactions occurring during the synthesis was followed by analysis of the liquid phase (chemical analysis) and the solids (X-ray and chemical analysis). Results were acquired for the distribution of phosphorus among water soluble, citrate soluble and citrate insoluble compounds. They confirm the low reactivity of the phosphate of the studied igneous rocks. The determination of water insoluble phosphates Fe3 (H3O, K)H8(PO4)6.6H2O formed during reaction and curing processes underlined the main role of the impurities in the ore.
