Abstract
The resonance parametric interaction of magnetoacoustic modes in a plane plasma waveguide with an inhomogeneous transverse electron-density profile is analyzed. Shortened equations are obtained in an MHD approximation by solution of a nonlinear boundary value problem for the complex amplitudes of the MHD-wave triplet for an arbitrary plasma-parameter profile. A formula for the increment of decomposition instability is derived for the particular case of a parabolic dependence of plasma density.
