Characterization of poly(1,1-dimethyl-1-sila-cis-but-2-ene)

Summary

Stereoselective anionic ring opening polymerization of 1,1-dimethyl-1-silacyclobutene co-catalyzed byn-butyllithium and hexamethylphosphoramide (HMPA) in THF at -78°C yields predominantly poly(1,1-dimethyl- 1-sila-cis-but-2-ene). The polymer has been characterized by1H,13C,29Si NMR spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and elemental analysis.
