Fire tests on window assemblies protected by automatic sprinklers

Abstract

Full-scale fire tests on wired and tempered glazing in steel and aluminum frames are described. These assemblies achieved fire resistance ratings when exposed to a standard fire of 45 min to 2 h. The maximum radiant heat flux transmitted through the glass was reduced by more than 90%.
