Interaction of counterpropagating arbitrarily polarized waves in a resonant medium from randomly oriented molecules

Abstract

We study the change in polarization of counterpropagating plane monochromatic waves as a result of their nonlinear interaction in an active resonant medium which consists of isotropically oriented and randomly moving molecules possessing a signal transition with fixed full angular momentum.
