Dehydroepiandrosterone- and glucose-6-phosphate-dehydrogenases in the hair cycle of the rat

  • Published:
Archiv für dermatologische Forschung Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

A histochemical study of dehydroepiandrosterone-dehydrogenase and of glucose-6-P-dehydrogenase during the hair cycle of the rat has been carried out.

Apart from the typical localization of each enzyme, a fair amount of activity of both enzymes was found in fibroblasts and in the adipose tissue during the last part of anagen.

In this phase a strong reaction for glucose-6-P-dehydrogenase was found in the panniculus carnosus.

The possible biochemical significance of these observations is discussed.
