Summary
A pleiotropic streptomycete mutant was isolated that overproduced extracellular protease activity on azocasein, whereas the parent strain,Streptomyces C5, produced only negligible extracellular azocaseinase activity. Also unlike the parent strain, the mutant, designated C5-A13, was nonpigmented, and was unable to sporulate or produce antibiotics.
