Summary
In solid state fermentation,Stropharia rugosoannulata degrades lignin of wheat straw slightly better in the presence of oxygen than that in air. The sub-atmospheric partial pressure of oxygen (0.05 atm.) inhibits lignin and organic matter degradation. the increasing partial pressure of carbon dioxide (0.1–0.3 atm.) along with 0.2 atm. of oxygen does not have any effect on lignin degradation, but slightly decreases organic matter loss and increases thein vitro digestibility of fermented wheat straw, thereby making the process more efficient.
