Linear growth in batch culture caused by conservative trace nutrient limitation

Summary

Examples of linear growth are reviewed and some are identified with conservative trace nutrient limitation. A kinetic description of the limitation mechanism is proposed and shown to describe the limited batch culture ofBacillus subtilis.
