Summary
Pisolithus tinctorius growth on cellobiose was close to that observed on glucose. Cellobiase was detected but none of the other enzymes associated with the cellulase enzyme system were found. The majority of enzyme activity was mycelial associated and released only after mechanical disruption and action of cell wall degrading enzymes. Maximum activity was at 65°C and pH 4.5 with stability greater than 95% at 5°C for 96 h.
