Summary
Two kinds of cellulase genes coding for endo-β-1, 4-glucanase and β-glucosidase, isolated fromBacillus subtilis andAlcaligenes faecalis respectively, were separately or combinedly put on a newly constructedEscherichia coli-Bacillus shuttle vector plasmid. When the recombinant plasmids having cellulase gene(s) were introduced intoE. coli orBacillus cells, drastic differences in fates and expression of the two genes were observed.
