Abstract
The article discusses the problem of determining the parameters of a stratum by the method of modulating functions. Note is taken of shortcomings of the method connected with arbitrariness in the choice of the modulating functions. A new method is proposed for determining the parameters, and the difference between the exact and approximate values of the parameters of a stratum is evaluated.
