Summary
The gene for the enzyme tyrosine phenol-lyase (TPL) was initially isolated on a 45 kbp fragment of Citrobacter freundii genomic DNA contained in a cosmid. Subsequent restriction enzyme digestion and sub-cloning resulted in the gene being contained on a 2.4 kbp DNA fragment.
