Motion of two circular cylinders in an ideal fluid

A solution of the problem concerning the motion of two circular cylinders in an ideal fluid was given earlier using approximate methods; the error made in this treatment of the problem increased with approach of the cylinders to one another [1, 2]. In this paper we give an exact solution of the problem for arbitrary motion of the cylinders. We define a velocity potential, the kinetic energy, and the forces acting on the cylinders from the fluid side.
