An investigation of the chlorotriazine derivatives as fixatives for tissues

Synopsis

The fixative properties of a number of mono- and dichlorotriazine dyestuffs were studied. These substances were, it was found, not pure and penetrated tissues poorly. The dichlorotriazines fixed and stained cells and their glycogen content moderately, well, but the monochloro derivatives produced poor fixation. Both groups of chlorotriazine derivatives reacted with proteins and glycogen but did not cross-link. In contrast, nucleic acids apparently did not react with these dyestuffs and were poorly stained.
