Abstract

Waveguides with inner dielectric cylinder(s) for Cerenkov free electron laser are presented. An analysis on the dispersion relations and the distributions of the axial electric field components of the waveguide modes, which are important to determine the operating frequency and gain, has been carried out. The results show that the waveguides can be employed to generate radiations at lower millimeter wavelength with higher gain and larger power output.
