Electron trajectories in the uniform-magnetic-field orotron free-electron laser

Abstract

An iterative method is employed for evaluating electron trajectories in the uniform-magnetic-field orotron free-electron laser. From resulting electron current density one deduces that this free-electron laser can operate not just at one but at four radiation resonance frequencies, making it potentially a highly tunable device. The aim of these studies is eventually to give a complete description of the free-electron laser capable of generating radiation in the farinfrared/microwave spectral region.
