Synopsis
The solubility of acid glycosaminoglycans in fixatives varies with the tissue source: it appears to be much greater in intervertebral disc than in skin. Presence of Cetrimide in the fixative reduces, but does not abolish, leaching in disc and has little or no effect on skin glycosaminoglycans.
