Synopsis

A technique is described for obtaining a relatively pure suspension of parietal cells from pig gastric mucosa. All cell types were released from the tissue by treatment with pronase. Four cellular fractions were separated by centrifugation on a discontinuous Ficoll gradient. One fraction contained 68% (SD 13.3) parietal cells and revealed a high lactate dehydrogenase-1 level compared to the other fractions.
