Summary
A new method is described for staining blood and bone marrow smears. It is characterized by the presence of only two dyes, purified azure B and eosin in methanol, as stock solutions. Staining results are equivalent to those obtained by using the traditional dye mixtures according toMay andGrünwald, Giemsa, Leishman orWright. Different from these azure B-eosin staining can be standardized and is easier to be handled. Correlations between the azure-B-eosin and May-Grünwald-Giemsa (MGG) staining methods are briefly discussed.
