Nach einem Vortrag, gehalten während des Aufenthaltes der Unitarian Medical Mission in Deutschland im Juli und August 1948

Schlußfolgerung

An unserer Klinik ist in den letzten 5 Jahren kein Todesfall durch Eklampsie vorgekommen. In den Vereinigten Staaten im ganzen genommen trägt die Krankheit aber doch an einem Viertel aller mütterlichen Todesfälle die Schuld. Abgesehen von der großen praktischen Bedeutung, die der Eklampsie daher zugemessen werden muß, bietet sie ein besonders fesselndes Thema für klinische Studien und es ist nicht daran zu zweifeln, daß eine Lösung des Problems der Schwangerschaftstoxikose gleichzeitig die Antwort auf viele Fragen verwandter Art in der inneren Medizin mit sich bringen wird.
