Abstract
Several years ago an equation was reported which had been fitted to the results of a specific national salary survey of one faculty subset. This equation and the survey norms were used as the basis of a procedure that provided more equitable and pertinently motivating salary increments. The description, uses, and benefits of the equation as a faculty salary-growth model, along with some order-of-magnitude national norms, were subsequently reported for a few additional faculty subsets to demonstrate general applicability. This paper includes (1) the theoretical development of that model, (2) the identification of the specific salary survey that provides regional salary-experience-performance norms from which local norms can be derived, and (3) the results of nonlinear regression analyses.
