Summary
The formula derived on the basis of the suggested method for determining the length of the common normal of common bevel gears entails computations which consume less labor, are simpler, and more general. The new formula for calculating the common normal of bevel gears is transformed in a particular case into a new formula for computing the length of the common normal of spur gears. The distinctive feature of the new formulas consists of the absence in them of the involute angle.
