Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Conclusions

By means of the above formulas it is possible to determine by the readings of a low-resistance voltmeter the voltage which will exist across the potential divider when the voltmeter is disconnected, providing the resistances of the divider arms are known, or only the total value of the divider is known and its voltage ratio is not known. However, in the latter case it is necessary to know the emf of the source.
