Technique for measuring magnetic characteristics of materials in finished products

  • Published:
Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Conclusions

The examples examined in this article show that in a number of cases, despite certain difficulties, it is possible to change the standard technique of measurements and evaluate the magnetic characteristics of materials in finished products. However, in each specific case this problem has to be studied specially, and, having selected a technique and equipment which is best for the experimenter, it is necessary to check the correctness of the results thus obtained. For this purpose a sample of magnetically soft materials in the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped should be ground-out and tested in the normal manner. It should also be noted that it is very difficult, and sometimes impossible to test the meeting of standard requirements by components with a particularly complicated shape, for instance, magnets in the shape of a star, etc. In such cases it is advisable to establish nominal reception and delivery testing characteristics which should be related either to the characteristics of a checking specimen or a sample ground out of a magnet.
