Abstract

The methods and instruments for compensating refraction in wide-base interferometers are analyzed. Systematic refraction compensation errors during observation through a plane-parallel plate over an evacuated space, and errors caused by inclination with respect to the horizon and by plate taper are estimated. It is shown that evacuation of a part of the optical path of the interferometers is desirable.
