Abstract
The transient response of a TEM horn antenna is calculated as a function of the material of the interelectrode dielectric layer, the angle of flare of the horn, and the angle of incidence of the input electromagnetic wave. Measurement transducers incorporating an asymmetrical TEM horn antenna are investigated experimentally. The results of the calculations and the measurements are in good agreement. It is shown that a transient response closely resembling a step function can be obtained by summing the signals of two oppositely directed antennas.
