Abstract

A description is given of a system for determining the angles between the upper and lower dead points of the first piston and between the lower dead points of the first and second pistons of an opposed diesel engine. The system also determines engine speed. With a maximum error of 0.5°, it determines the angles during subcritical rotations of the shaft. The system is designed to perform such measurements for 8192 successive shaft rotations.
